One Game, One Community

Baggies to show support for campaign at Saints match

ALBION will show their support for Kick It Out's annual 'One Game, One Community' weeks of action at tomorrow's game against Southampton (ko 8pm).

The players will wear promotional t-shirts during the pre-match warm-up to underline the club's commitment to equality and inclusion.

The Baggies are delighted to lend their support to the campaign as it complements the diversity, inclusion and equality work the club’s official charity, The Albion Foundation, conducts week in, week out in Sandwell, Dudley and surrounding areas.

Only last week, Peter Odemwingie attended the Out of Africa Campaign (OOAC) – an exhibition backed by Kick It Out that is currently on display at The Public, West Bromwich.

OOAC is a ground-breaking, Heritage Lottery-funded project which highlights the important contribution Africa and its footballers have made to the game in this country. It focuses specifically on the role players from the world’s second-biggest continent have played in transforming professional football in the UK, raising the aspirations of young people of African heritage and supporting football in tackling racism.

This season’s Kick It Out weeks of action have seen football clubs up and down the country embracing the multi-cultural nature of the English game by holding events involving supporters and players alike.

They have included the Kick It Out Cup, a football fans’ tournament launched in conjunction with Powerleague which scours the country for the best five-a-side team in the land.

Other highlights have seen a panel debate on the rise of social media in football being held in London and an education event on anti-Semitism in football, which was staged in Manchester.
