'Super fan' Les James given special honour
ALBION "super fan" Les James is celebrating his 91st birthday this weekend - and the Baggies have a special present lined up for him.Les will be the latest to enjoy the accolade of "Fans' Champion" which will see him take up the spot of pre-match guest of honour against Burnley and deliver the match-ball to the Premier League plinth.
Fans' Champions are nominated by fellow supporters in recognition of a notable devotion or contribution to the Baggies and Les certainly qualifies.
An avid follower since 1948, the Smethwick resident remains the Club's oldest away season-ticket holder and a familiar face on all of Albion's travels as well as at The Hawthorns.
He has been nominated by fellow season-ticket holder Helen Allport who tells us that "Les always said we will win 2-1."
Let's hope his beloved Baggies can serve up an even better birthday present after Monday's kick off.
