Carlos Corberán insists Albion’s three points against Plymouth Argyle were won as a result of a massive level of “commitment, belief and hard work”.

Josh Maja’s second-half finish from inside the penalty area saw the Baggies claim a fourth straight victory in the second tier – a triumph which sent them back to the top of the Sky Bet Championship standings.

The boss says he was delighted to see his players achieve another win and praised the resilience they showed.

He said: “The result today happened as a result of the commitment, a massive level of belief and hard work. I’m very happy with the result we have achieved today.

“In the first half, we had very good possibilities to score the goal. We had a number of big chances to arrive at half time in the lead.

“It was a pity because the team wanted to make an impact right from the beginning. It was so unfortunate to hit the post three times, but that’s part of football and we had to keep on managing the game well.

“We couldn’t find that goal but we had to keep insisting on doing many things well.

“Thankfully, in the second half, we found that goal and then we had to go on to show a lot of commitment and resilience in our defending.

“It’s clear. If we hadn’t kept a clean sheet today, we wouldn’t have won the game. Everything in football is related. The better you attack, the less you have to defend.

“The better you attack and defend, the more options you have to win.

“The support today was unbelievable. There are no more words that I can say to say thank you to our fans for the level of support they are giving us.”
