Carlos Corberán says his side's victory over Reading was the best possible way to start the new year.
The Baggies made it five consecutive home wins at The Hawthorns with their 1-0 win over the Royals, courtesy of Daryl Dike's second-half header.
He said: "I think of course, this is the best way to start the new year, with a win at home.
"We were very, very committed with the game and I was pleased with the squad and the support we are seeing from the fans. That’s the best way to start the year.
"I think it’s very important for us to keep this run like this. All the praise is for the players because they have changed this momentum and they are working very hard to perform well.
“We know that when we attack and defend we have more opportunities to win the games."
The Baggies were forced to wait for their opener until the second 45, despite creating numerous opportunities early in the first period.
But Corberán was pleased with how his side remained patient to break the deadlock against a 'combative' opponent.
The boss continued: "I think for the first 25 minutes we were excellent, we managed the game really well, created opportunities to score the goal, but the goal didn’t appear.
"In this moment it’s important to not get frustrated, to keep consistency, to keep the focus on the things that are helping you create chances and to give focus on the behaviours you are doing to avoid the big chances for the opponent.
"You have to insist on still doing the things you keep doing, to attack more and to defend less. In the second half for me the team was a little bit better but we weren’t patient enough in our attack.
"Sometimes we precipitated losing the ball, giving some possibilities to the opponent, but this can happen.
"It was a very combative game until the end, and the players had to put in a lot of spirit to win.
"I think it’s very important for us to keep this run like this. All the praise is for the players because they have changed this momentum and they are working very hard to perform well.
"We know that when we attack and defend we have more opportunities to win the games.
"It’s true that in this period of games we have had to play one game more because we have one game less from the first lap.
"It’s been a very demanding period of games, but now the league stops for the cup, that’s a very important competition of course, but I think we’ve finished this period of games in the best way that we could."
