Carlos Corberán | 'We know what type of game to expect at Luton'

Carlos Corberán insists Albion know exactly what type of challenge they are going to come up against at Kenilworth Road on Friday night.

The Baggies take on Luton Town – a side relegated from the Premier League last season - under the lights in the Sky Bet Championship (ko 8pm).

The Hatters have had a tricky start back to life in the second tier and head into this weekend’s clash inside the bottom three, sitting on 11 points from their 12 matches played.

However, boss Corberán believes the hosts are a squad who have been built to compete near the top end of the division and has been preparing his own players for a physical battle.

Carlos said: “Luton are one team who will not just challenge our defensive behaviours, but also our defensive line.

“They play with two strikers and they are two very good strikers when you compare them to others in this league. They both have a strong physical presence. They like to receive a lot of balls quickly from wide areas of the pitch and from the two centre-backs.

“They are focused to win a lot of balls in the middle of the pitch and attack quickly. They use their set-pieces very well and their stadium helps with that in terms of it being tight and the crowd very close to the pitch.

“They are a team who have a lot of corners in games because of their style and the strikers they have. They are a physical team and we have to be ready for that type of challenge.

“We know the type of game we are going to face on Friday, a game which will be totally different to the last one we played against Cardiff City.

“It will be more similar to the Blackburn game, but Blackburn don’t attack in the same way Luton try to attack.

“Luton have a special atmosphere at their stadium, a stadium which is a lot more traditional than it is modern. There’s a tradition there and it’s something I respect. What they have is traditional British football.

“It’s a squad which has not been built to be in the position that they are in, but in the Championship, no team is built to be in a bad position. We know how tough it is going to be.

“Both teams have the desire to add points and we’ll be going there looking to achieve a positive result.”
