Carlos Corberán believes Albion delivered a "positive reaction" to Sheffield United's two quickfire goals during Sunday's clash with the Sky Bet Championship leaders.
The Baggies and the Blades - two of the three teams in the division with the joint-fewest defeats - drew 2-2 at the Hawthorns in treacherous conditions.
Albion went in front through Torbjørn Heggem's glancing header, but the visitors scored twice in two first-half minutes thanks to Callum O'Hare and Tyrese Campbell to turn the contest on its head.
Corberán's group responded in a determined fashion though and bagged an equaliser in the second period when Tom Fellows' deflected strike looped over Michael Cooper into the far corner.
The boss was pleased with the level of commitment and belief on display and thinks Sheffield United will be happier with the point.
He said: “I think we all share the same feeling after that game – the staff, the players and the fans. It’s a pity that we couldn’t achieve all three points instead of just one. The target was to win the game.
“We started the game really well. After we scored the goal, we tried to go for more.
“In football, though, things happen. We were in front and then the opponents scored from an accident when we were defending the box.
“We then made a mistake and it came through a player who has been showing an excellent level in Torbjørn Heggem. We weren’t managing the ball well close to our box and Sheffield United are top of the table because in the box they are a very good team.
“We had the feeling that we had been playing excellently for about 30/35 minutes and we wanted to extend our lead. We then conceded two goals quickly which made things more difficult.
“When these things happen and you are in one momentum when you are not winning games, you then have two options. Your performance can decrease, or your belief can increase. I think the team increased their commitment and belief in the second half and they showed a positive reaction.
“When you play certain teams in the Championship you cannot lose concentration when defending because moments can change the momentum that you are creating.
“I think if there was one team who appreciates this point the most then it would be Sheffield United. We have had possibilities and opportunities to achieve something else.
“In some moments I think our performances have improved. But, in truth, we haven’t improved enough to achieve all three points. Results in football, for me, normally are fair and tell you a lot of things. If you look at results in detail, we are team difficult to beat, but it’s also been difficult for us dominate games and control aspects of games that can help influence results.
“For me, the most important thing is to manage our minds well. If we decide to look at the negativity, we are never going to change the situation because you will only increase frustration.
“If we keep our belief and keep working hard and increase our commitment, even if it’s difficult, that’s when you can make a change. I told the players I understand the negativity around not winning games. That’s football. Our fans want to see us winning games.
“We take responsibility and we will go to the next one correcting details which will help us win games, as well as continuing to do the things we are doing well.”
