Albion recorded a 2-1 win over Peterborough United in another valuable St. George’s Park friendly on Saturday afternoon.
Brandon Thomas-Asante’s first-half effort, combined with a second period Posh own goal, helped the Baggies beat their Sky Bet League One opposition.
The run-out rounds off a positive week at the home of English football for Carlos Corberán’s men.
The teams exchanged chances during a lively opening 10 minutes, as Thomas-Asante saw a low effort saved before Alex Palmer was called into action down the other end - brilliantly stopping Peterborough’s Abraham Odoh when in on goal.
BTA forced a good stop from Jed Steer again midway through the half via another pinpoint shot, with the goalkeeper doing well to scramble away Fenton Heard’s rebound too.
The Posh did threaten when Emmanuel Fernandez headed over, but it was Albion who pressed for a goal as half-time drew closer.
Thomas-Asante twice fired off-target in quick succession - yet was eventually rewarded just seconds ahead of the break, nodding home following good work by substitute Reyes Cleary.
Carlos Corberán made 11 changes for the second period as the squad continued to get minutes in their legs.
The Baggies were frustrated to concede shortly after the restart, Odoh racing in and converting confidently past Joe Wildsmith.
They didn’t let it faze them, though, and quickly re-established their lead thanks to a brilliant Karlan Grant run and cross, which a Peterborough defender put in his own net.
Albion did create an opportunity to extend their advantage in the later stages - however, Mo Faal’s volley was kept out, leaving the game to stay 2-1 come full-time.
