The Baggies head north to take on Hull City in the Sky Bet Championship at the MKM Stadium on Sunday, November 10 (ko 1pm).

Carlos Corberán's men couldn't find a way past Burnley on Thursday night at The Hawthorns and were held to a goalless draw.

They'll be hoping to record a victory before the international break against a Tigers team who are without a triumph in six, losing 1-0 at Oxford United in midweek.

Albion took four points off Hull last season, winning 3-1 at home and drawing 1-1 away.

The encounter will be a special one for boss Carlos Corberán, with the Spaniard taking charge of his 100th Albion game.

The hosts

Hull City head into Sunday's fixture having not taken maximum points in any of their last six matches (D3, L3).

The Tigers, who were one of Albion's main challengers in the play-off race last term, have had a challenging start to the current campaign, recording three victories, six draws and six defeats from their 15 fixtures in all competitions.

This weekend's hosts suffered a 1-0 setback at Oxford United on Tuesday night and will be desperate to avoid advancing into the November international break on the back of seven without a triumph.

At the MKM Stadium, Hull's record so far reads played seven, won one, drawn four and lost two, scoring seven and conceding seven.

They're managed by 48-year-old German Tim Walter, who has previous coaching experience at Bayern Munich's reserve team, Holstein Kiel, Stuttgart and, most recently, Hamburg.

He was appointed to his first job in England at the very end of May and will be keen to help Hull climb the table and away from the bottom three.

One from the history books

The Baggies earned a 3-1 triumph at Hull City in the second tier in January 2008.

Kevin Phillips scored after just two minutes and James Morrison made it 2-0 before the break.

Richard Garcia pulled one back inside the final 20 minutes and moments after that goal, Paul Robinson was dismissed.

But the ten-men wrapped up all three points late on when Roman Bednar scored.

The stats

Carlos Corberán will take charge of his 100th West Bromwich Albion game on Sunday. The Spaniard has a record of 44 wins, 25 draws and 30 defeats.

Albion have won seven of their last nine games against Hull City, losing one and drawing one. Their only defeat during that sequence was a 2-0 reverse at the MKM Stadium in March 2023.

The Baggies have recorded eight clean sheets in 14 league matches this season, but have also failed to score in five of the last seven.

Albion have won their last two league games played on a Sunday, claiming triumphs at Huddersfield in March and Portsmouth in September. Before those victories, they'd gone 18 without a win in matches played on a Sunday.

Hull's last four opponents at the MKM Stadium have all scored exactly one goal - Cardiff City, Sunderland, Burnley and Portsmouth.

Carlos Corberán celebrated his 100th game in charge with a win as Albion beat Hull City 2-1 on Sunday.

Early efforts by Karlan Grant and Josh Maja earned them all three Sky Bet Championship points, despite Joao Pedro’s headed goal.

The Baggies - who now have a 13-day break until their match against Norwich City - sit 5th going into the November international break.

The boss made one switch following Thursday night’s Burnley draw, swapping Mikey Johnston for John Swift.

And the Irish international played a role in Albion’s 12th-minute opener, feeding the ball to Grant on the left and watching as he smashed home - via a deflection - the visitors’ first.

City very nearly equalised immediately when Xavier Simons rattled the crossbar from just outside the area.

Instead, though, Albion netted next. A well recycled move again involving Johnston saw Darnell Furlong’s excellent header set-up Maja, and he made no mistake converting at close-range.

But the Tigers did manage to pull one back - Pedro guiding a cross over Alex Palmer and in, leaving the clash finely poised come the interval.

Hull then continued creating after half-time. Mason Burstow had a low shot comfortably saved before, on the hour mark, Regan Slater should have probably levelled, nodding off-target despite being in a good position.

Down the other end Torbjorn Heggem was denied a spectacular goal, his overhead kick tipped over midway through the second period.

In the main Albion frustrated their hosts during the later stages, however they were indebted to Palmer for a good stoppage time save to keep out Abdus Omur’s free-kick and help them claim an important victory.

Albion: Palmer; Furlong, Holgate, Heggem, Styles; Molumby, Mowatt (Racic 65); Fellows (Diangana 54), Johnston (Diakite 79), Grant (Wallace 79); Maja (Dobbin 54).

Substitutes: Wildsmith, Nelson, Swift, Cole.
