Gera happy with tap-in

Zoltan pleased to net important goal

ZOLTAN Gera insists he was delighted to grab an ‘easy’ goal in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Norwich at The Hawthorns.

The Hungary international netted Albion’s 43rd-minute equaliser before Romelu Lukaku’s header earned the Baggies their first win in five Barclays Premier League matches.

And the 33-year-old midfielder maintains simply scoring Albion’s first goal in almost six hours of football was more important than the quality of the strike.

“Saturday was all about getting the three points and we did that,” said Gera.

“If ever there was a day I would be happy to score an easy goal Saturday was it.

“I was in the right place at the right time and it wasn’t the best goal in my life but it was very important because in the end we won the game.

“I would like to score lots more goals.

“We lost four games in a row, then drew, and we finally got our win.

“Hopefully now we will begin winning more games.

“It was a difficult day for us because everyone wanted to win and the crowd was as frustrated as the players.

“The performance wasn’t the best but it was important to get the win.

“I don’t know what our problem was in the first half but we couldn’t get things going.

“The second half was much better but we still know we can play much, much better.

“In the end we got the three points and we must now look forward and focus on our next game.

“We were losing the ball a lot but in the end we showed the character to come back and get the result.

“We won the game against a good Norwich side.

“They were unbeaten in their last ten games and they frustrated us for long periods of the game.”
