Wedderburn and Pace help seal important win for the Baggies
ALBION recorded a 2-0 victory over West Ham United in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League at the club’s training ground on Saturday.
Goals from Rees Wedderburn (pictured) and Ryan Pace earned the Baggies their fourth win of the season with only two games remaining before the league splits into three tiers.
Albion currently reside one point behind the third-placed Hammers in fifth position.
And development coach James Shan believes his side have made a marked improvement on their performances during the opening stages of the campaign.
“After the start we had after the first seven games we had our work cut out to get in the middle tier of the league and now we’re only one point off third place,” said Shan.
“We’ve had a good run and I’m the first person to criticise our performances but on Saturday we played well and deserved our victory.
“It was a good performance and we had good tactical discipline throughout.
“We started the game quite brightly and we were really creative and we created more chances than I perhaps first realised.
“At the start of the season we were good over two thirds of the pitch but we struggled creatively in the final third.
“We were much better in that section of the pitch on Saturday and I’m pleased we are now creating and converting our chances.”
