Youngster pleased to get on the scoresheet
SAIDO Berahino was delighted to score a dramatic equaliser in today’s 3-3 thriller at West Ham.
The 20-year-old striker netted his seventh goal of the season as the Baggies twice came from behind to claim a point at Upton Park.
And the Albion academy product says he thought he had grabbed a late winner when his 82nd-minute free-kick crashed against the woodwork.
“My goal came at an important time,” said Berahino.
“They had just made it 3-2 and we needed that goal.
“We managed to bounce back as soon as possible after they’d scored.
“I’m happy with the goal.
“I also thought my free-kick was going in. Unfortunately for me and the team, it didn’t.
“I’m just looking forward to the next game now.”
The England Under-21 international praised the never-say-die attitude of his team-mates – who came from behind for the third-successive game to grab a draw.
“The team spirit has been brilliant,” added Berahino.
“We went behind but we came back.
“I want to thank my team-mates because our spirit is high.
“We’ve stayed strong as a team through a difficult period and we just want to get through this.
“We’re sticking together as a unit.
“It was a brilliant game.”
