Ladies look to continue momentum

Lawrence's side hoping to carry cup form into league campaign

SPORTING Club Albion Ladies are back in league action this Sunday as they travel to Leicester City Ladies (ko 2pm).

Due to poor weather conditions and cup games, this is their first league match since the end of October.

The Baggies have shown some terrific form of late in both the FA Cup and the Birmingham County Cup, winning their last two games by very comfortable margins.

And Baggies boss Dave Lawrence will be hoping his side can carry that momentum into the second half of the league campaign.

He said: “The last two games have highlighted what we know about our side already, we can score goals against any team given the correct application of tactics and the players’ desire to come alive when we have the ball.

“Our top scorer Robyn James now has 17 goals in competitive games this season, which is credit to her and the delivery we are now getting into her in crucial areas of the pitch.”

Sunday’s opponents Leicester City have gone through a transitional period over the last year, but Lawrence knows it is crucial not to underestimate them.

“They have some talented players, and although much has changed at the club in the past 12 months, they always approach games in a professional and well-organised manner,” he added.

“We know that we will need to match them in each area of the pitch in order to get three much-needed points to get our league campaign back on track.”
