Summer signing arrives and is raring to go
CLUB-RECORD signing Brown Ideye has today arrived at Albion’s training ground and is champing at the bit to kickstart his Baggies career.
The striker, 25, has finally flown into the UK following the completion of his work permit application process.
Ideye signed for the club three weeks ago but has had to be patient waiting for the relevant paperwork to be pushed through.
And now he has arrived in the midlands with everything in place, the Nigeria international is wasting little time getting started.
“I’ve already put what has happened behind me, right now I’m here and it’s all about working, working, working,” Ideye said.
“I’ve met the manager today and met my new team-mates.
“The rest of the day is all about recovery - some swimming and some running on the treadmill.
“Tomorrow I will join the guys for fitness training."
Ideye will not be involved in tomorrow’s final pre-season friendly against 2004 Champions League winners FC Porto (ko 4pm).
However, that will not stop him being at The Hawthorns to get behind his new team-mates and show his support.
“For me, I would say the game will come too soon because I’ve only just arrived now. I will have to start gradually,” he said.
“But, for sure, I will be there as it’s my team. I will go to support even though I’m not playing.”
