Defender departs The Hawthorns
ALBION have agreed the sale of Wales international defender James Chester to Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old Warrington-born defender leaves after completing one year of a four-year deal signed last summer since when he made nine starts for the Baggies.
He agreed the switch to Albion's Championship neighbours after completing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
After rounding off last season with a prominent role in Wales' acclaimed campaign at the European Championships, Chester departed to a warm tribute from Head Coach Tony Pulis.
He said: "It's a good deal for the Club and a good deal for James.
"He had a fantastic time at the Euros and he obviously wanted to play first team football on a regular basis. We had a man-to-man chat about things and this deal suits everyone.
"We wish him well. James is a fantastic lad and a super professional."
