TEN-MAN Albion ended pre-season with a 2-0 loss at Deportivo La Coruna.
Second-half goals from Bruno Gama and Borja Valle sealed the win for the La Liga hosts at the Estadio Riazor in northern Spain.
The major talking point of the game came shortly before the break.
Jake Livermore, who captained Albion in the absence of Jonny Evans, received a red card 40 minutes in.
The midfielder was adjudged to have lashed out at Fabian Schar by referee Alfonso Alvarez Izquierdo and was shown a second yellow.
Deportivo forwards Fede Cartabia and Zakaria Bakkali both fired straight at Ben Foster from 30 yards, while at the other end, James McClean’s strike from the edge of the penalty area sailed wide.
Romania international Florin Andone saw his effort fly over Boaz Myhill’s crossbar early in the second period, but the home side were soon ahead.
Substitute Bruno Gama confidently placed the ball into the far corner from 15 yards after connecting with a right-wing cross in the 71st minute.
And the hosts sealed victory four minutes from time when fellow replacement Borja Valle headed home at the back post from a corner.
