YOUNG defender Nathan Ferguson today penned his first professional contract at Albion.
The 17-year-old product of the Baggies’ Academy has signed a deal which secures his Hawthorns future until the summer of 2020.
Ferguson’s contract comes just weeks after the arrival of Head Coach Alan Pardew, who says it took him “about two and a half minutes” to see for himself the talent which had earned the youngster rave reviews.
“We think he's got a good future and it’s important in terms of trying to move the club forward,” said the Baggie boss.
“He’s a young player I heard about when I arrived and I spoke to the staff and asked who was outstanding, the best player not signed to a professional contract.
“His name was on almost everyone’s lips and it took me about two and a half minutes [to make up my mind].”
