ALBION’s PL2 side were defeated 2-0 by Newcastle on a bitterly cold night in the North East.
The Baggies arguably had the better of the first half and went close just under quarter of an hour into the game when Nathan Harker had to be alert to keep out Tahvon Campbell’s effort.
Three minutes before the break Finn Azaz almost opened the scoring for Albion when he found space outside the area, but his shot went just over.
Seven minutes after half time Kyle Cameron went close for Newcastle when his header hit the crossbar.
The Magpies then took the lead on 66 minutes when Luke Charman was brought down inside the box, and Callum Roberts made no mistake from 12 yards.
The home side doubled their advantage with 70 minutes on the clock as Roberts let fly from range and it crept under Brad House and into the bottom corner.
Despite plenty of the ball late on Albion couldn’t find a way back into the game and Newcastle claimed the three points.
