Rodriguez on 'number ten' tag

JAY Rodriguez has no qualms about playing in behind a central striker.

Albion Head Coach Alan Pardew revealed in his media address that he considers Jay's best position to be "in behind a striker". And the Baggies frontman says he has no issues with that whatsoever.

Honestly I'll play anywhere on the pitch if it helps the team," said Jay. "I love playing football.

"Number ten suits me - I've played there before. If it's beneficial to the team then I'll do it. I enjoy finding little pockets of space and going in behind the striker."

Albion are yet to find the net during Pardew's reign but have certainly shown plenty of attacking intent in their last three Premier League fixtures. It's something that Jay says his teammates have "taken well to" on the training field.

"We've had a few weeks now and the lads have taken well to it. He [Pardew] wants us to be free when we do play forward.

"Like you saw at Liverpool we were very solid but also in positions to go and affect the opposition."

And Jay believes Sunday provides another chance for the Baggies to end a winless Premier League sequence against "one of the best".

"You want to play against one of the best. Mourinho's one of the best managers and has some of the best players.

"We're looking forward to it. We want to stamp our authority on the game, get the crowd going, get the atmosphere up and take the three points."
