Albion play their final home fixture of 2016/17 on Friday
ALBION will host a Premier League game at The Hawthorns for the final time in the 2016/17 season as Chelsea come to town on Friday (ko 8pm).
The opposition
The Baggies are all that stand in the way of Chelsea being crowned Premier League Champions for the second time in three seasons. After victory over Middlesbrough on Monday evening, Antonio Conte's side need just three more points to be certain of their place at the top of the tree come the end of the campaign. No side has won more games or scored more goals than the Blues this season.
Last time out
Albion came close to picking up a point at Stamford Bridge in December, but one of Diego Costa's 20 Premier League goals this season gave Chelsea a narrow victory.
Stats
The Baggies need five points from their final three games to break their record Premier League points tally.
Should Chelsea fail to wrap up the title against Albion, they will have two more opportunities to do so - against Watford and Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.
From the archive
Gareth McAuley scored the winner at The Hawthorns in March 2012 as Albion beat Chelsea for the first time in almost 30 years.
Head to head
Albion have won 42 games against Chelsea in their history - 39 of those wins came before 1983.
35 games have been drawn, with the Blues winning 59.
