ALBION’s under-23s boss James Shan believes his side need to build on their midweek win when they travel to Norwich in a Premier League 2 clash on Sunday.
His young Baggies team recorded a 3-1 win over Coventry Sphinx on Wednesday night in the first round of the Birmingham Senior Cup thanks to two goals from Nick Clayton-Phillips and one from Kyle Jameson.
“There’s a good feeling around the team after midweek I think. A win at any level is a win,” said Shan.
“To score three goals and to get that feeling of being able to dominate and control the game - hopefully that will give the boys confidence for Sunday’s match.
“We’ve now got a settled squad, and that will be our squad in pretty much any competition that we play in.
“They’re now all back fit and raring to go. Obviously the game in midweek gives me a bit of a headache with team selection because there were some good performances."
But Shan is under no illusions as to the strength of Albion’s opposition, and thinks The Canaries could even field players that are in and around their first team.
“Having looked at them, they’re a real attacking threat. They have a front four that play quite high and look to probe and penetrate.
“The game was originally meant to be played at their training ground but it’s been moved to Carrow Road, so that kind of gives us an indication that maybe Norwich will include some senior players.”
