ALBION stars stole the show for Northern Ireland as they all but secured a World Cup qualifying play-off spot on Monday night.
Jonny Evans, who took home the Man of the Match award, and Chris Brunt were both on target for Michael O’Neill’s side in a crucial 2-0 win over Czech Republic at Windsor Park – a result which ensured at least a second-place finish in Group C.
Eight of the nine nations who finish second in their qualifying group will clinch a play-off position.
In Group F, Matt Phillips and James Morrison featured as Scotland recorded an important 2-0 win over Malta at Hampden Park.
Phillips completed the whole game while Morrison replaced James McArthur at the break.
The result keeps Scotland’s hopes of a securing a play-off spot alive.
Elsewhere in the same group, Jake Livermore appeared as a very late substitute at Wembley where England took a giant step towards Russia.
Gareth Southgate’s men came from behind to beat Slovakia 2-1, meaning they need just one more win from their final two games against Slovenia and Lithuania to clinch automatic qualification for the World Cup finals.
