ALBION’s under-23s were defeated 4-1 by Blackburn Rovers in their final game of the season at The Hawthorns.
The young Baggies started brightly when Evan Pierce headed wide and Alex Bradley drifted a free-kick over the bar.
But it was the away side that took the lead 13 minutes in when Matt Platt headed in from a corner.
Bradley was then sent off for Albion just before the half-hour mark, and Alex Palmer had to be on his toes to keep out a Joseph Nuttall effort a few minutes later.
Callum Morton went close to equalising 10 minutes before the break when his run and near post shot was saved by Andrew Fisher.
After half time the Baggies did draw level, though, when Jonathan Leko tapped in after great work by Morton out wide.
However, three late goals from Daniel Butterworth, Nuttall and Lewis Mansell meant it was Rovers who claimed all three points.
ALBION: Palmer, Meredith, Ferguson, Jameson, McCourt, Harmon (Wilding 33); Harper, Bradley, Leko; Morton, Pierce (Clayton-Phillips 89).
