ALBION Women were knocked out of the Birmingham FA County Cup after being beaten 2-0 at home to FA Women's Premier League Southern Division outfit Coventry United Ladies in the semi finals.
A goal in either half from Stephanie Smith and substitute Keeley Davies was enough to send Coventry through to the final.
Louis Sowe kept faith with the starting eleven that beat Bradford just under a fortnight ago as Albion more than matched their opponents in the early stages.
Jennifer Kikomeko came close to opening the scoring for the Baggies, but Coventry goalkeeper Susan Wood was equal to the effort after the midfielder had shown sublime control on the edge of the box to fire in a shot.
And Kikomeko was at it again just moments later, but this time saw a rising shot from distance well held by Wood.
Yet it was Coventry who drew first blood in the 33rd minute when Smith was on hand to tap home a rebound after Albion's Vanessa Kinnerley had pulled off a smart save to push away a Jade Brook low drive.
After the break, Albion almost levelled proceedings, but Louise Fellows' goalbound effort was cleared off the line by Helen Dermody.
The pendulum continued to swing from end to end, but in the 72nd minute it was Coventry who caught the Baggies cold on the counter-attack when Davies slotted past Kinnerley to confirm Albion's County Cup exit.
Albion are back in FA Women's Premier League Northern Division action this Sunday, 8th April at home to Middlesbrough Women. (ko 2.30pm).
