JAMIE Smith will take charge of Albion’s under-23s when they travel down to play Brighton & Hove Albion in a Premier League 2 Division Two match on Monday evening.
The young Baggies have put some encouraging team performances in of late, with goalkeeper Alex Palmer also being nominated for March’s PL2 Player of the Month award, and Smith is hoping to see more of the same on the South Coast.
“We’ve played very well the last few games,” he said.
“I think the continuity of the squad and the players playing together for a string of games has helped.
“In terms of results we’ve done okay as well, so hopefully we can carry it on this Monday.
“It’s predominantly an under-18s squad so I know the players really well, which is obviously good and will mean it should be a smooth transition.
“It’s been a hectic few days with the changes, but I’m definitely looking forward to it.”
