ALBION’s under-23s were knocked out of the Birmingham Senior Cup at the semi-final stage after losing 3-1 at Stourbridge.
The home side went in front after nine minutes when Aaron Hayden smashed the ball into the bottom right corner following a long throw into the box.
The Baggies equalised on the 22 minute mark, though, when Callum Morton won a penalty before dusting himself down to confidently tuck the ball away from the spot.
Not long after half time Stourbridge then re-took the lead thanks to Josh Cooke’s half-volley from just outside the area.
Albion did have chances to equalise when Nick Clayton-Phillips shot wide and Alex Bradley failed to convert Jonathan Leko’s cross.
But it was Stourbridge who further extended their advantage and sealed their passage into the final with 15 minutes to go when Stuart Pierpoint headed home from a corner.
ALBION: Palmer, Meredith, Ferguson, Jameson, McCourt, Harmon (E Pierce 75); Harper, Bradley; Leko, Morton, Clayton-Phillips.
