KIERAN Gibbs was in the thick of the action against Queens Park Rangers but says Albion’s frontmen were the real match-winners.
Our full-back opened his Baggies account in an impressive display before deflecting praise towards the men leading the line for Darren Moore.
Jay Rodriguez and Matt Phillips fired doubles, with Dwight Gayle and Hal Robson-Kanu also notching in a dominant performance at The Hawthorns.
And Kieran believes the work ethic and attacking quality of his team-mates will stand Albion in good stead for the 2018/19 campaign.
"It was a good afternoon," he said.
"The boys showed good discipline from the beginning. I like the way we sustained attacks in their half and dominated most of the game.
"We've got a lot of dangerous players going forward. They're hungry, they work hard on and off the ball.
"If they keep gelling together like they have been doing then it bodes well for the season."
It was a change in system that freed the Baggies up to romp to a sublime victory.
Kieran added: "We were able to get men up the pitch.
"When you play in that system it's hard to adjust so we need to learn it quickly.
"I think we did that well today.
"People will see the result but it's too early to send messages or anything like that.
"There's so many games in this league. You just have to go again on Friday.
"We've just got to focus on ourselves."
