ALBION emerged victorious from an action-packed, seven-goal thriller to triumph 4-3 at Norwich City and claim their first Sky Bet Championship victory of the season.
Jay Rodriguez bagged a brace at Carrow Road while Harvey Barnes and Hal Robson-Kanu also got in on the act in what was a breathless encounter, with the impressive Sam Johnstone also crucially saving Jordan Rhodes' penalty.
The Canaries, who took the lead through Rhodes, saw Albion wrestle control in the second half but battled back and reduced the arrears first through Teemu Pukki and then Grant Hanley - but it was the Baggies who claimed the spoils in Norfolk.
Head Coach Darren Moore made two changes from the midweek draw at Nottingham Forest, handing a full debut to Dwight Gayle and a recall to Allan Nyom.
Johnstone got down well to parry from Onel Hernandez early on before pulling out another impressive stop to deny Ivo Pinto after 16 minutes.
Kieran Gibbs' deflected effort brought a save from Tim Krul but it was Johnstone who was the busier, this time denying Rhodes when clean through.
However, he could do nothing to prevent a Canaries opener in the 24th minute as the ball fell for Pukki at the far post and he squared for Rhodes to convert from close range.
The deficit only lasted nine minutes, though, as Gayle was upended in the area by Krul and Rodriguez stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way with the resulting penalty.
Yet the Baggies were indebted to Johnstone again in the 37th minute when he saved Rhodes' spot-kick awarded for Chris Brunt's foul on Hernandez.
And the visitors turned the game around just two minutes into the second period as Rodriguez's long-range strike was fumbled by Krul.
Johnstone and Krul, both key figures in the encounter, made impressive saves at either end.
But it was Albion who added a third on 65 courtesy of a lovely sweeping move - Matt Phillips crossing low from the right, Rodriguez stepping over the ball and Barnes striking home from the edge of the area.
Rodriguez was denied a hat-trick by Krul before the Canaries reduced the arrears in the 70th minute as Pukki's deflected effort from 12 yards beat Johnstone.
Substitute Robson-Kanu added a fourth when he swept home Ahmed Hegazi's header from Brunt's corner 11 minutes from time.
But City hit back again with captain Hanley's header, setting up a nervous finale including five minutes injury time, but Albion held firm to secure a sixth win in their last seven league trips to Norwich.
