ALBION's under-23s were defeated 3-0 by Aston Villa in the Premier League Cup at the Banks's Stadium.
Morgan Rogers had an attempt blocked for The Baggies on 12 minutes, but it was Villa who took the lead on the 20 minute mark through Andre Green's effort.
Oliver Burke then went close two minutes later for Albion when his low shot couldn't quite find the bottom corner.
Villa went into half time two goals ahead, though, after Callum O'Hare sent Boaz Myhill the wrong way from the penalty spot.
After the break the Baggies almost got on the scoresheet when Burke shot wide and Rekeem Harper couldn't keep his volley down, but Green got the away side's third on 71 minutes to ensure they went home with all three points.
ALBION: Myhill, Nyom (Jameson 45), Howkins, Fitzwater, Melbourne; Rogers (McCourt 80), Donnellan, Harper, Leko; Burke, Morton.
