ALBION were pegged back to a 1-1 draw at home to Nottingham Forest Ladies in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division on Sunday.
A debut goal by Cheryl Edwards looked to have given the Baggies all three points with just 10 minutes remaining, but a late strike from Amy Dicken meant the visitors returned home with a share of the spoils.
Albion came storming out of the blocks and could have found themselves ahead early on when Gina Burton flashed an Antonia Smith corner inches wide of the far post.
Louise Fellows then came even closer after seeing a 30-yard strike clip the top of the crossbar, before Edwards cut inside to fire inches over.
At the other end, Vanessa Kinnerley made a smart save at the near post to turn Nicola Emery's low drive behind for a corner.
Louis Sowe’s side kept up their momentum after the break and finally got their just rewards in the 80th minute when Edwards collected a loose ball on the edge of the penalty area to fire a thunderous strike past Bec Thomas into the far corner.
Nicole Dale almost doubled Albion’s lead a minute later, but it was Forest who struck on the counter-attack in the 85th minute when Dicken slotted past Kinnerley to salvage a point for the visitors.
Albion are next in action on Sunday, January 14 away at Solihull Ladies United in the Birmingham FA County Cup third round (ko 2pm).
