JAMES Shan is looking forward to Albion’s first under-23 fixture of the year when they take on Aston Villa in the Premier League Cup on Monday evening.
The Baggies have had their last two fixtures, against Wolves and Brighton, postponed - meaning they haven’t played since before Christmas.
“It’s been a really frustrating couple of weeks for us,” said Shan.
“We’ve had a number of youngsters back with us who were out on loan during the first half of the season, and they’ve missed out on opportunities to drum up some interest in themselves for the remainder of the campaign.
“But it looks like they’re going to get some game time now to show what they can do, and with it being a derby that adds something special to the match.
Albion’s under-23s are without any points from their first two PL Cup Group E fixtures, but they’ve still got four games left to try and get through to the next round.
“We’ll certainly be looking to get a positive result because this is a competition we can still advance in.”
The game is being played at Walsall’s Banks's Stadium (ko 7pm).
