JONATHAN Bond is “excited” to work alongside his former England U21 team-mate and fellow summer signing Sam Johnstone at Albion.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper, who penned a two-year deal at The Hawthorns, will join up with Johnstone once more having spent time together away on Young Lions duty back in 2013.
Bond, previously of Watford, Reading, Peterborough United, Gillingham and Bury, is keen push the former Manchester United stopper for the number one jersey and expects there to be an enjoyable but focused atmosphere in training.
He said: “Sam and I have always got on well to be fair.
“We’ve known each other from England U21s and it’s always nice to know someone when you’re coming into a new club.
“The goalkeepers spend most of the day with each other so that has made it very easy for me to settle.
“We’re going to look forward to working together throughout the season.
“Neil Cutler heads up the department and there’s a good atmosphere, as well as a high standard, within the group.
“Sam’s a good goalkeeper and I am here to challenge as best I can.
“It’s exciting to work with that kind of quality.
“I’ve had experience of my own in the Championship before. I know I can play at this level and I feel comfortable at this level.”
