ALBION stepped up their preparations for the Sky Bet Championship campaign with an intense work-out at the Energy Check County Ground against Swindon Town.
The Baggies recorded a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Jay Rodriguez, Kyle Edwards and Kyle Jameson in a game which was split into two hour-long halves, with Head Coach Darren Moore utilising a total of 22 players.
James Morrison enjoyed 50 minutes in the pre-season friendly in sunny Wiltshire as he gained valuable match fitness.
Albion took the lead after half an hour. Promising youngster Edwards broke through the middle and found Kane Wilson, whose driven cross was finished off by Rodriguez at the back post.
The hosts equalised in similar fashion 15 minutes later. Elijah Adebayo tapped home Matt Taylor’s cross from the left.
But six minutes into the second hour Albion re-took the lead. The sprightly Edwards raced on to a terrific through-ball from Rekeem Harper before rounding Luke McCormick and slotting into an empty net.
Young defender Kyle Jameson then made it 3-1 just five minutes after being introduced to the action.
He powered a header into the top corner in the 82nd minute having confidently met Matt Phillips’ right-wing corner.
