Go Play is a programme that offers free weekly sessions for six to 12 year olds for the residents of Smethwick and the surrounding area, with some special sessions being provided over Whitsun.
“We want to give the kids the chance to actually play rather than stay in and sit on the computer," said Josh Wright, the Foundation's Go Play Coordinator.
“We put on sessions at local community centres or at parks or organise a trip that is completely free for the kids.
“We are actually giving them the provision to go out and get active and get physically fit, or take part in arts and crafts.
"We just want to get the kids out in the local community because some of them might not even know that some of these parks are available.
“The funding is to make better use of communal spaces within the community.
“We want the children to gain social skills and inclusion skills, so we make all of our sessions inclusive and educational.”
