DARREN Moore does not like to single out individual performances but is reluctant to allow Hal Robson-Kanu’s ‘excellent’ display against Leeds to pass without comment.
The 29-year-old striker led the line as Albion lit up The Hawthorns with a glittering 4-1 triumph over the Sky Bet Championship’s early pace-setters.
His impressive outing, which included the Baggies’ first goal of the afternoon, resulted in several choruses of ‘We’ve got Kanu, Robson-Kanu’ from home crowd.
And Darren says he could not be more pleased for the Welshman.
“It’s hard for me to single out players but I thought Hal did very, very well to come in,” said Moore.
“He showed his knowhow, his experience, his intelligence and his ball control against two very impressive central defenders was excellent.
“The biggest thing for me and the reason I was delighted for Hal was because after putting the workload in, and leading the line so well, he got himself a goal to give us the lead in the game.
“Hal is another player in the team that’s vying to start games week-in, week-out. The competition is fierce here which is what we want here at the club.
“Hal showed his versatility, his energy and his understanding to come in and perform in a game of that magnitude, to the highest standard and level he can.
“To hear the fans singing his name was excellent and long may that continue for Hal. We know he’ll continue to impress and he grabbed his opportunity with both hands.”
