ALBION moved into Round Three of the FA Women’s National League Plate after recording a superb 5-0 win at home to Nettleham Ladies.
In the opening stages Laura Davies hammered a shot inches wide while Nicole Dale’s clever flick hit the outside of the post before the Baggies eventually took a deserved lead on the quarter-of-an-hour mark.
Dale’s effort was pushed away by Nettleham keeper Olivia Clark but only into the path of Keeley Davies who pounced to convert the rebound from close-range.
But Dale was not to be denied a third time in the 30th minute when the winger latched onto a Bethany Jewitt right-wing cross to head home and put the Baggies two-goals ahead.
It got even better for Louis Sowe’s side a minute before the break when a short corner from Hannah George was met with a thunderous 20-yard volley into the bottom corner from Abby Bevan.
After the interval Albion continued to press and were awarded a penalty on the hour-mark when Natalie Murray was brought down after a mazy run from the half-way line into the penalty area.
Up stepped Davies to convert her second of the game before Murray got in on the act, delightfully slotting home a cross from substitute Gabbie Reid in stoppage time to complete a wonderful afternoon for the Baggies.
Albion return to league action next Sunday, 21 October, with a short trip to Sporting Khalsa in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands (ko 2pm).
ALBION: Field, Jewitt, George (c), Bevan, Smith, Sinclair, Murray, L.Davies, James (Henry 81), K.Davies (Reid 73), Dale (Price 60).
