JAMIE Smith is hoping his side’s good form will help them on to a derby win against Aston Villa in Monday night’s Premier League 2 Division Two clash at Aggborough (ko 7pm).
The young Baggies, facing a Villa team who sit fifth in the table with 15 points from their opening eight league outings, go into the game having extended their winning run to five matches following a Birmingham Senior Cup triumph at Rushall Olympic earlier in the week.
And Jamie has been full of praise for his squad ahead of the fixture, with the Albion under-23s boss also keen to point out the influence his assistant Deon Burton has had since joining in the summer.
“These games always have a little extra to them,” he said.
“We know Villa have some good young players. We’ve had some good battles with them at this level in the past.
“But we’re coming into this game with great momentum, and we’ll be looking to continue that on Monday evening.
“It’s been great working with Deon. He was an attacker and I was more of a defender so it’s given a really good balance to our coaching set-up.
“All the coaching staff have been excellent and really supportive of the players, and now we’re starting to see the results.”
Tickets for the game are available on the gate for just £5 adults and £1 concessions, or entry is free if you're a season-ticket holder.
