TYRONE Mears admits Albion must remain focussed in order to extend their impressive league form at Preston North End on Saturday (ko 3pm).
The Baggies are the Sky Bet Championship’s top scorers with 22 goals from nine games, and climbed to third in the table with a 2-0 Hawthorns victory over Millwall last weekend, securing the first clean sheet of the term in the process.
Mears believes regularly recording shutouts will give Darren Moore’s men the best possible chance of a successful campaign.
“You can’t take anything for granted, no matter what names you have in the squad,” he said.
“You definitely need a strong squad to get back up to the Premier League.
“You also need a lot of fight and a little bit of luck.
“At the minute we’ve got a bit of a run going on which is giving the strikers and the attacking players a lot of confidence.
“We’re banging the goals in and we had a clean sheet in the last game, which is something as a team we need to work on, to get more clean sheets.
“If we do that then we’ll definitely give ourselves a great chance of going back up.”
