ALBION Under-23s were defeated 4-2 by Wolves in an eventful Premier League 2 Division Two clash at Aggborough.
Jamie Smith’s side started brightly and had a goal disallowed inside five minutes, Nick Clayton-Phillips judged to be offside after slotting home the rebound from Rayhaan Tulloch’s saved effort.
Wolves’ Max Kilman and Niall Ennis then stunned the young Baggies as they struck twice in seven minutes to put the away side in a commanding position at half-time.
After the break Kyle Edwards pulled Albion back in the game as he rifled a powerful effort into the roof of the net just before the hour mark.
Wanderers put a halt to mounting Baggies pressure on 69 minutes, though, as Pedro Goncalves’ penalty snuck over the line despite an initial Alex Palmer save.
Edwards netted a superb curler to pull the home side within a goal once more as the game edged towards the final whistle, but shortly after Alex Bradley received a second yellow card Wolves’ Oscar Buur put the result beyond doubt with just two minutes left on the clock.
