Smith expects ‘open’ game at Norwich

Albion Under-23s boss Jamie Smith is looking forward to a free-flowing game as his young Baggies travel to Norwich City in the Premier League 2 Division Two on Friday (ko 7pm).

Smith's side could overtake the Canaries in the league table if they were to win at the Colney Training Centre - and Jamie is anticipating an exciting clash in East Anglia.

And a 1-1 draw last time out against Liverpool in the Premier League Cup has added to Jamie's enthusiasm to see his side face Norwich.

"I was delighted with the players, the way they played at Liverpool," he said.

"They had a lot of possession for large parts of the game and we dealt with it really well, and on the back of that our counter attack play was excellent and we had some fantastic chances.

"I think it will probably be a bit more of an open game at Norwich with the way that they play.

"They are a very very good footballing team, very expansive so I am expecting it to be a bit more of an open game and hopefully this time we can take our chances.

"Our team is looking young, with quite a few players out on loan so we'll be a young team with a lot of the scholars from the Under-18s playing."
