JAMIE Smith says his Under-23 side are keen to put right last week’s derby defeat when they travel up to Newcastle on Monday evening (ko 7pm).
Albion’s youngsters go to Tyneside in search of their first Premier League 2 Division Two win of 2019 having been beaten by Wolves at Aggborough last time out.
And Smith believes he’s seen enough from his players at Palm Training Ground since then to give him hope ahead of the clash with the Magpies.
“I’ve definitely seen a reaction from them in training this week,” he said.
“As I’ve said most of this season, they are a good group of lads and players that have the right mentality and attitude.
“Newcastle beat us in the first match of the season, so we’re expecting another tough game from them.
“It’s a long trip for us, but if the boys put in a performance like they did in the second-half against Wolves then it’ll give us a good opportunity.
“It looks like it could be a young squad that we take up there, but it’s a chance for them to grab the opportunity and hopefully they will.”
