Jack Fitzwater has highlighted the importance of having the correct mindset to win games at under-23s level ahead of Albion’s PL2 clash with Middlesbrough on Monday, November 25 (ko 1pm).
The young Baggies go into the Premier League 2 Division Two clash unbeaten in their last six games (W5, D1, L0), most recently beating Newcastle United on the road in the Premier League Cup.
And Fitzwater is hoping to help Albion's youngsters to notch their fifth clean sheet of the season.
“I am training with really good players in the first-team," said Fitzwater.
"The quality is ridiculous. Coming down to play under-23s, you have to get the minutes and you have to play well.
"Ultimately it is another game of football that you want to go and win. You have to have the right mentality to go out there, win a game and keep a clean sheet.
“I think we did really well against Newcastle, especially on the pitch we played on. It was a long trip up the night before. First half we limited them to chances, created quite a few and scored the goal. In the second half it was a really professional performance.
“Keeping a clean sheet away from home is a really good sign. I think we are starting to gel more now as the season is going on. We are doing really well, we are in good form at the minute.
“We have had a few clean sheets recently. I think it’s the organisation side, off the ball, how we work, not just the defenders, not just the ‘keeper but the midfielders and the front players who set the tone.
“Being a defender it is really nice to keep a clean sheet, and the more we get means we have a good chance of winning games.”
