Charlie Austin revealed he knew exactly how he was going to take his penalty having spent Friday afternoon practicing them on the training pitch.
The Baggies forward buried his spot-kick in front of the Brummie to secure three crucial Sky Bet Championship points and keep Albion top of the table.
And Austin, who was brought on from the bench with just 15 minutes remaining, said he was confident of putting the ball in the perfect place.
“I practiced a couple yesterday,” said Charlie.
“I knew exactly what I was doing and where I wanted the ball to go with a little three or four step run up.
“I was caught in the moment in terms of the celebration.
“I was talking to Hal in the dressing room and was saying that all the strikers are chipping in and scoring goals.
“I think it’s nice.
“As a player you need to be taken out for three or four games to get that spark back.
“I’ve been putting in the hard work on the training ground and I hope I can continue to reap the rewards.
“I think that’s a massive three points for us. On to Bristol City now.”
