Young midfielder Finn Azaz has been reflecting on the progress he has made this season before Albion’s PL2 side take on Aston Villa at Aggborough Stadium on Monday (ko 7pm).
Azaz has played an important role for the youngsters this term, with the Baggies winning three times and losing on as many occasions in the Premier League 2 Division Two.
Last time out Albion beat Newcastle United 2-1, with a handful of first-team players featuring for the young Baggies - an experience Finn is eager to learn from.
And the 19-year-old feels he is developing a nous for winning games at PL2 level.
“I feel like the season has been good so far,” said Finn.
“In terms of performances we have put in some really great ones such as against Sunderland and Fulham.
“We have not perhaps been as consistent as we might have liked and that shows with some of our results and I feel we definitely could be higher up in the table.
“I always enjoy playing with the first team players such as Chris Brunt, Ahmed Hegazi and Hal Robson-Kanu to learn from their experience on the pitch and in their preparations.
“Personally I feel that I was very prepared for under-23s football at the start of this season and I feel I have more knowledge of what is necessary to win at this level. I am working on getting in the box more from a deeper role to in turn get more shots off and try to score more goals from midfield.
“Against Villa, we are expecting a young side similar to ourselves with lots of energy who will play at a fast tempo. Having grown up playing against some of these guys, there is definitely a feeling of rivalry.”
