Albion’s players have been doing their bit to cheer up some of our senior season ticket-holders who found themselves “locked in” for their birthday.
Club captain Chris Brunt and team captain Jake Livermore led a player initiative to call supporters who our data showed were celebrating birthdays last week.
Romaine Sawyers, Filip Krovinovic, Charlie Austin, Kieran Gibbs and the legend that is Brendon Batson were also spreading birthday congratulations to the unsuspecting fans.
You can get a flavour of the results in this exclusive video released today which shows just how much the personal “Happy Birthday” touch went down with fans who are all in the 70-plus age bracket and have been urged by the government to self-isolate during the pandemic.
"I'm just so gobsmacked that you're all doing this. It makes such a difference. It really, really does."

“To be honest, I think the lads got as much of a buzz from it as the fans did,” said Jake.
“It was lovely to catch the supporters by surprise and hopefully put a smile on their face. But I think we all enjoyed chatting with them and had some great conversations.
“We’re all in this together and it is a privilege to be in a position where you can have that sort of impact and also show the fans how much they mean to us.”
This is the latest in a series of community initiatives underway throughout the Club during the pandemic.
Director of Communications Martin Swain said the Club remained under a deluge of requests from supporters and would continue to do its best to satisfy
“It’s just not going to be possible to satisfy everyone as much as we don’t want to disappoint but I am sure the supporters will understand that,” he said.
