Dara O’Shea has committed his future to Albion by signing a new three-and-a-half-year deal.
The 20-year-old central defender has been a regular in the Baggies’ 18-man squad this season, making a Sky Bet Championship appearance from the bench in the 1-1 draw with Brentford, as well as starting each of the Club’s Carabao and FA Cup fixtures.
And Albion boss Slaven Bilić insists Dara is for "the present" as well as the future.
“I’m smiling as it’s a boost for us,” said the gaffer.
"I rate him highly. Dara is definitely the future but not only that he is the present too - I count on him a lot.
“It’s brilliant for us that he’s committed himself to us but it’s also great for him because I can’t see any better place for him than West Brom.”
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international made the move to England at the age of 16 and quickly impressed the Baggies, earning the Club’s Premier League Scholar of the Year Award for his performances in the 2016/17 season.
He was a consistent performer for Albion’s Under-18s and Premier League 2 sides before his promotion to the senior squad.
