What is Greenspace
Provision of Active Green Spaces
This is a brief outline of our new wellbeing program that utilises our local green spaces to facilitate and deliver wellbeing activities to our local communities.
Funders:
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL Provision of Active Green Spaces
Mission:
The Albion Foundation intends to deliver a physical activity programme within the green space of each of the six towns of Sandwell. The focus is to improve public health outcomes and increase physical activity levels of those who are inactive; support those who are already engaged in the 5 x 30 mins per week to increase; and aged 18 years and older. We also endeavour to achieve and evidence other outcomes including: Improve mental health; improve confidence and knowledge of green spaces; and improve social connectedness for those 500 + participants each year.
Where are we?
We’re based in venues within or close to green spaces across Sandwell, which are called our community wellbeing hubs. These are our bases for facilitating our activities, but we’re not limited to these venues, as the hubs give us more opportunities to work within the community as a whole.
What do we deliver in the community?
We have a holistic approach to the activities and the local community have a greater say to what they would like to see and do. This gives more empowerment to the groups and promotes a sense of community.
