Albion secured a 2-0 win against Coventry City at The Hawthorns on Wednesday evening.
Alex Mowatt and Karlan Grant efforts earned the Baggies all three points, while also extending their unbeaten run to 12 games.
The result ensures Carlos Corberán’s men jump up to 6th in the table ahead of Sunday’s Watford trip.
The boss made one switch from last weekend’s Sheffield United draw, as defender Mason Holgate replaced Kyle Bartley.
Alex Palmer was the first goalkeeper tested - excellently thwarting Norma Bassette’s finish - though Albion soon took charge and saw a Mikey Johnston shot go wide and Josh Maja’s strike get blocked.
The breakthrough then arrived on the 11-minute mark. A loose ball fell to Mowatt just outside the box, and his sweet strike hit a Coventry defender before finding the bottom corner.
Visitors City attempted an immediate response, Tatsuhiro Sakamoto looping one over and Jack Rudoni almost converting a corner.
It stayed mainly quiet until the end of the opening period, when Karlan Grant guided a volley wide and, down the other end, Palmer again came to the rescue to stop Josh Eccles’ poke.
Following the restart, Coventry created two big opportunities, with Jake Bidwell and substitute Viktor Torp both nodding wide at close-range.
And another header tested Palmer midway through the second half, this time via Sakamoto, during a dominant spell by the away side. Milan Van Ewijk volleyed wide, too.
Still, Albion hung in there and managed to crucially double their advantage on the break 16 minutes from time. Grant picked it, dangerously drove forward and superbly smashed home his fifth goal this season.
Consequently, the hosts controlled proceedings until the final whistle, notching an important victory and clean sheet.
