Albion and The Albion Foundation will support The Multibank for their 2024 Christmas Campaign.

The movement is designed to raise awareness and respond to the rising issue of hygiene poverty among young people around the country.

For the Baggies’ fixture against Bristol City on Sunday, December 22 (ko 3pm), the club will facilitate a matchday donation drive, encouraging supporters to gift essential products such as soap, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, provided they are sealed and in date.

This will all support the building of essential hygiene packs - enabling fans, alongside the playing squad and club staff, to play an active role in getting these items into the hands of those most in need within the local community over the festive period.

For those not in attendance but keen to support the activation, donations can be pledged at multibank.co.uk.

The first-team players' generous donation has helped gift a variety of hygiene items to those in need this Christmas

“We are really proud to partner with The Multibank this Christmas,” said Albion’s Managing Director, Mark Miles.

“We feel it’s our responsibility as a football club, especially at this time of year, to do anything we can to help those most in need within the local community.

“Our first-team squad have supported the cause with a generous donation, led by captain Jed Wallace.

“We appreciate times are tough for a lot of people, but if there is anything you can do to support the project by bringing something - no matter how big or small - to the Bristol City game, then your donations will be going to a very worthy cause.”

Baggies supporters can drop off the suggested items ahead of kick-off versus the Robins in two places. There will be containers at the Fan Zone, which will be clearly located next to The Albion Foundation’s area, as well as in the Sports Hall on Halfords Lane.

Figures provided by the charity are alarming. Combined with other issues, up to 42 per cent of homes are without deodorant, and 400,000 are without soap or toothpaste.

School staff are recognising the isolation, withdrawal and bullying towards children that is developing as a result - meaning they are spending approximately £40 million of their own money to support pupils and tackle divisiveness in the classroom.

With 2-in-3 staff expecting the level of hygiene poverty to increase in their school in the coming year, and with key workers’ mental health affected as they attempt to navigate the daily complexities that hygiene poverty presents, The Multibank has designed it’s 2024 campaign to get soap, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste, and toothbrushes in the hands of those most in need, ensuring that our young people start the day the right way, free of fear, anxiety, and judgement.

At Christmas, that peace of mind is the least a child deserves.
