Albion are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Torbjørn Heggem for an undisclosed fee from Swedish top-flight outfit Brommapojkarna.
The 25-year-old Norwegian has penned a three-year contract at The Hawthorns.
And the 6ft 3in defender believes his ambition matches that of the club and head coach Carlos Corberán.
“It feels really great to be here,” said Heggem. “English football has always been the biggest thing in Norway. To play in England is a dream for every boy growing up there and hopefully I will achieve that now I have signed. I’m really looking forward to that.
“It’s all happened pretty quickly, and I’m really happy about that. I haven’t thought too much about it, I just felt it was the right thing to do from the very start.
“I feel like the head coach is very ambitious. He was telling me about his training ideas and the way he wants to coach. He really wants to get the best out of every player, and I think that will suit me well.
“I’m an ambitious player, so I think it will be a good match.”
Head Coach Carlos Corberán added: “I would like to welcome Torbjørn to this special football club.”
“Torbjørn has the versatility to play in any of the positions across the defensive line, adding further competition to the squad in this area of the pitch.
“He is a player who is capable of taking responsibility for the ball, playing out from the back and managing the ball well with both feet.”
