West Bromwich Albion welcome QPR to The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon for what will be the 36th match of the Sky Bet Championship campaign (ko 3pm).

Tony Mowbray's men head into the fixture having earned a very respectable 1-1 draw at table-topping Leeds United last weekend.

Visitors QPR also came up against an automatic promotion-chasing side in their most recent encounter, falling to a narrow 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United in front of their own supporters.

Albion won the reverse fixture 3-1 on the opening day of the term, with striker Josh Maja scoring a hat-trick. The highlights from that afternoon can be viewed below.

The visitors

QPR will arrive at The Hawthorns sitting comfortably in the middle of the pack, but still with an outside chance of reaching the play-offs.

Saturday's guests ended up finishing 20th and 18th in 2022/23 and 2023/24 respectively, but have have proved to be a much more competitive team in the second tier this term.

The Londoners will now hope to find consistency in their final 11 Sky Bet Championship matches having won six and lost six of their last 12 in all competitions.

They take on Tony Mowbray's men on the back of consecutive 2-1 defeats at Portsmouth and then in front of their own supporters against Sheffield United last weekend. The last time the R's suffered three straight losses was during a stretch of four between September and October.

They'll be keen to halt a run of three successive away defeats after being narrowly beaten at Millwall, Coventry City and Portsmouth in the last five weeks. QPR have won four, drawn six and lost seven of their 17 league fixtures on their travels so far this campaign.

Spaniard Marti Cifuentes has been in charge since October 2023 and has performed impressively, guiding Rangers to safety last season and steering them to mid-table this season. The 42-year-old, who has also managed in the lower leagues in his homeland as well as in Norway, Denmark and Sweden, has a record of 25 victories, 21 draws and 26 defeats as QPR boss.

International Women's Day

Albion will join the world in celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) this coming weekend.

The men’s fixture against Queens Park Rangers at The Hawthorns falls on IWD and the club have a number of plans ready to mark the occasion.

Members from pioneering partners Her Game Too (HGT) are set to be flag bearers, and Women’s Manager Siobhan Hodgetts-Still - as well as multiple players - are participating in a hospitality Q&A session in The Richardson Suite.

Tony Mowbray’s group will also wear HGT branded warm-up T-Shirts, while you can find dedicated content within the matchday programme and up on the stadium’s big screens.

A young female supporter will help out over the PA system, and there is plenty to keep an eye on before the weekend, too.

A special feature detailing Albion Women Manager Siobhan Hodgetts-Still’s journey from fan, to player, to coach, is one of a few special videos due to be released across the club website and social media channels.

The Foundation are hosting a Premier League Inspires event, as well as various ‘Biggest Ever Football Sessions’ with girls from primary and secondary schools towards the end of the week - which will be documented online and in Albion News. Two female students are also taking part in a ‘supporter to reporter’ scheme at Saturday’s match.

And the celebrations continue the following Sunday when the women’s team host a dedicated IWD fixture for their next home game, which is against Burnley at The Valley Stadium on March 16.

What is International Women’s Day, and Her Game Too?

International Women’s Day is an annual event celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, which takes place on March 8 each year.

For more information about the movement, click here.

Her Game Too is an organisation consisting of female supporters that are passionate about football and working to eradicate sexism in the industry. Albion announced a partnership with them in March 2022.

You can read more about HGT, and find out how to support the group, here.
